Innovative technologies application in agriculture of the BRICS countries

Abstract

Background. Today world tendencies associated with integration in the world economy served to create the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). The BRICS countries are the largest producers of agricultural products, and ongoing processes of introducing innovations and innovative technologies in various areas, including agriculture and agro-industrial complex, contribute to their competitiveness growth. The purpose of the research is to analyze features of innovative technologies use in agriculture of the BRICS countries.
Materials and methods. Implementation of research tasks was achieved on the statistical data study on indicators of agro-industrial complex of the BRICS countries, on comparative analysis of innovative technologies used by the BRICS countries in agriculture. The research methodology is based on systematic approach.
Results. Current state analysis of agriculture in the BRICS countries is carried out; various innovative technologies that allow to switch to high-tech innovative agriculture are considered in relation to the BRICS countries.
Conclusions. The share of agriculture in GDP of the BRICS countries is quite high. Increasing a competitiveness of agriculture and the BRICS agroindustrial complex in the global agri-food market requires a transition to high-tech innovative agriculture. Innovations and technologies of agro-industrial complex in these countries are developing quite effectively. Unmanned aerial vehicles are widely used for agricultural purposes and online platforms for trading agricultural products are evolving. Today, interaction process of the BRICS countries in innovation and technological fields is actively underway, and the governments of these countries provide support in development of innovations and ensure full functioning of agro-industrial complex.
